Miner Proxy

The Miner Proxy is a technical bridge that makes browser mining possible. As a user, you don't need to understand how it works—just know that it connects your browser to the mining pool.

What is the Miner Proxy?

Think of the miner proxy like a translator between two people who speak different languages:

  • Your Browser speaks WebSocket (the language browsers understand)
  • Mining Pools speak Stratum (the language mining uses)
  • The Proxy translates between them so they can communicate

Without the proxy, browser mining wouldn't work because browsers and pools can't talk to each other directly.

Do I Need to Install Anything?

No! The proxy is provided by the mining service. When you log in to the browser miner at rhinocoin.app, everything is configured automatically.

How to Use It

Step 1: Proxy URL (Auto-Configured)

When you log in to the browser miner at rhinocoin.app, the proxy URL is automatically configured. You don't need to enter it manually.

If needed, proxy URLs look like:

  • wss://proxy.rhinominer.rocks/ws
  • Pre-configured when you log in with your monerominer.rocks account

Step 2: Enter in Browser Miner

  1. Open the browser miner
  2. Find the "Proxy URL" or "WebSocket URL" field
  3. Paste the URL you received
  4. That's it!

The proxy does all the technical work automatically.

Understanding Fees

Some proxy services charge a small fee (usually 5-10%) to cover their costs:

  • What It Means: If the fee is 10%, you get 90% of your mining rewards
  • Why Fees Exist: Running servers costs money
  • Is It Normal?: Yes, most services charge some fee
  • Free Options: Some pool operators provide free proxies for their pools

The fee is automatically deducted from your shares—you don't need to do anything.

Common Questions

What if the proxy goes offline?

If the proxy stops working:

  1. You'll see a "Connection Failed" message
  2. Your mining will stop
  3. Wait a few minutes and try reconnecting
  4. If it stays down, contact your service provider or try a different pool

Can I use any proxy with any pool?

The proxy configuration is managed by your account. When you log in to rhinocoin.app, pools are pre-configured and available in the dropdown menu.

Is it secure?

When the URL starts with wss:// (note the "s"), your connection is encrypted and secure. This is recommended.

URLs starting with ws:// (no "s") are not encrypted. Use wss:// when available.

What information does the proxy see?

The proxy can see:

  • Your wallet address (which you enter in the miner)
  • Your mining performance (hashrate, shares)
  • Your IP address

The proxy cannot see:

  • Your private keys
  • Your wallet balance
  • Your personal information (unless you share it)

Do I need a different proxy for each device?

No! You can use the same proxy URL on all your devices (phone, laptop, desktop). Just use the same wallet address with different worker names:

  • Desktop: YourAddress.desktop
  • Laptop: YourAddress.laptop
  • Phone: YourAddress.phone

Troubleshooting

"Cannot connect to proxy"

Try these steps:

  1. Check the proxy URL is correct (copy/paste it)
  2. Make sure you have internet connection
  3. Try refreshing your browser
  4. Wait a few minutes—the proxy might be temporarily down
  5. Contact support at monerominer.rocks

"Connected but no shares"

The proxy is working, but something else might be wrong:

  1. Check your wallet address is correct
  2. Make sure mining is actually started
  3. Give it 30-60 seconds for first share
  4. Check the browser miner troubleshooting guide

Connection keeps dropping

This usually means:

  • Your internet connection is unstable
  • The proxy server is having issues
  • Network interference (VPN, firewall)

Solutions:

  • Try using a wired connection instead of WiFi
  • Disable VPN temporarily
  • Contact your service provider if it persists

Finding a Proxy Service

Where to Get Proxy Access

Most proxy services are bundled with mining pools:

  1. Choose a mining pool
  2. Sign up (usually just means getting their connection info)
  3. They'll provide the proxy URL along with pool details
  4. Start mining!

What to Look For

Good proxy services have:

  • Clear fee structure (you know what you're paying)
  • Good uptime (online 99%+ of the time)
  • Close to your location (lower lag)
  • Responsive support
  • Secure connections (wss://)

Avoid services that:

  • Don't disclose fees
  • Have frequent downtime
  • Have no contact information
  • Ask for your private keys or recovery phrase

Tips for Best Experience

  1. Use Secure Connections: Choose wss:// URLs when possible
  2. Save Your Settings: Bookmark the miner page with your settings
  3. Check Regularly: Make sure you're still connected and mining
  4. Join Community: Pool/service Discord or forums can help with issues
  5. Have a Backup: Know of a second pool/proxy in case your primary goes down

What You Don't Need to Worry About

As an end user, you don't need to:

  • Install any software for the proxy
  • Configure servers or ports
  • Understand technical protocols
  • Manage the proxy infrastructure
  • Handle security certificates

The service operator takes care of all the technical details. You just use the URL they provide!

Need Help?

If you're having proxy-related issues:

  1. Check the browser miner guide: Most issues are miner-side, not proxy-side
  2. Contact your pool/service operator: They manage the proxy
  3. Try a different pool: To test if it's proxy-specific
  4. Ask the community: Forums and chat can often help quickly

Remember: The proxy is just the bridge. If you can connect to the proxy but can't mine, the issue is probably somewhere else (pool, miner configuration, or wallet address).

Happy mining! 🦏⛏️
